Infant car seats are typically used from birth until about 1 year of age. Make sure to check the manufacturer for each car seat for the recommended ages.
Infant car seats are recommended as one can ring the baby in and out of the car with the car seat and no need to wake baby up if baby is sleeping.
It is especially useful in Canadian winters when one can bundle baby in the houe and bring baby into the car. With a convertible car seat, even if used from infancy, one does no have this great benefit!
