Replacement:
Regularly inspect your baby’s pacifiers and replace them every 4-6 weeks or at the first sign of damage or weakness. An enlarged nipple is a sign that it’s been in use for too long and should be replaced. Thoroughly inspect all new pacifiers before their first use by pulling the nipple in all directions and checking for small tears in the material.
Care and Cleaning:
Keeping your little one’s pacifiers clean is essential for their safety, especially when they are young and their immune systems are more vulnerable. Always place brand-new pacifiers in a pot of boiling water for five minutes before their very first use to remove any residue from the manufacturing process.
For ongoing care, we recommend sterilizing pacifiers regularly (once a day is a good rule of thumb; though the younger the child, the more important it is to protect them from bacteria and maintain good pacifier hygiene). While there are multiple ways to sterilize pacifiers and methods can vary based on nipple material, here are two effective and convenient methods:
Scalding Method For latex & silicone pacifiers
- Place pacifiers in a clean bowl and pour enough boiling water to cover them completely.
- Let them soak for approximately 5 minutes.
- Carefully remove the pacifiers and place them on a clean towel to air dry.
- Squeeze out any excess water from the nipple valve.
Microwave Method For silicone pacifiers only
- Confirm that your microwave settings are 800W (or equivalent) and that the water temperature is max 100°C / 212°F.
- Place the pacifiers in a microwave-safe bowl or sterilization box (like a BIBS pacifier box) and fill it with water.
- Microwave for 60 seconds.
- Allow the box or bowl to cool before removing the pacifiers.
